Telegram and Discord are the lifeblood of crypto communities — used for project updates, community building, and investor communication. Unfortunately, they're equally vital to scammers who exploit these platforms' features for fraud.

Fake Admin Scams

Scammers create accounts mimicking project admins (often with subtle character differences in usernames). They DM members offering "support" or "exclusive opportunities" and direct victims to phishing sites or request direct payments.

Airdrop and Giveaway Bots

Automated bots flood crypto channels with fake airdrop links. Clicking these links leads to sites that request wallet connections or seed phrases. Some deploy smart contracts that drain connected wallets.

Pump and Dump Channels

Private "signal" channels promise insider trading tips. In reality, channel operators buy tokens before announcing them to members, who unknowingly provide exit liquidity when the operators sell at the inflated price.

Compromised Servers

When admin accounts are compromised, scammers can post fake announcements — bogus mint links, "emergency migrations," or "bonus distributions" — to the entire community. These attacks exploit the trust built within established communities.

Safety Guidelines

• Admins will never DM you first — treat all unsolicited DMs as suspicious
• Disable DMs from server members in privacy settings
• Never click links in DMs, even from "known" contacts
• Verify announcements across multiple official channels
• Use a separate wallet for any interactions prompted by community messages
• Report suspicious accounts and messages immediately
